4 Eye Exercises for Better Eyesight
Good vision is something most people don't think much about until they lose it. Everyone knows how important it is to keep our bodies fit with regular exercise but, did you know that you need to exercise your eyes as well to maintain good vision? The eyes are designed to move regularly. Frequent movement of the eyes is what promotes optimal circulation and nerve tone of your eyes and the six muscles that control eye movements. One of the main reasons why people in modern society suffer from chronic eyestrain and deteriorating vision is the amount of time that is spent staring at TV and computer screens.
The following muscles control your eye movements:
) Look as far to your right as possible for three seconds,and then as far to your left as possible for three seconds. Rest for five seconds. Repeat five times.
2) Look as far up as possible for three seconds, and then look as far down as possible for threeseconds. Rest for five seconds. Repeat five times.
3) Roll your eyes in a circle slowly, first clockwise, and then counter-clockwise. It should take at least three seconds to complete a full circle. Rest for five seconds. Repeat five times.
4) Hold your thumb in front on you at arm's length. Focus on the tip of your thumb for three seconds, and then shift the focus to an object that is farther away for three seconds. Repeat the sequence five times. The greater the distance between your thumb and the distant object, the better. Try to perform the exercise outdoors if possible
Be sure to do all of these exercises should be done with your eyes, not your head and neck. Keep your head and neck still while you take your eyes through the movements described above.
